Nail Trim
Kept short enough to protect posture and joints — quickly and calmly.
About Nail Trim
Overlong nails aren't a cosmetic problem. They push the toes out of alignment, change how a dog distributes weight, and over time put real strain on wrists, elbows, and hips. Regular trimming prevents all of it.
We trim each nail to just short of the quick, checking underneath as we go, and smooth anything that's left rough. Dogs who hate having their feet held get short breaks between paws rather than one long restraint.
Who it's for
- Every dog, roughly every three to four weeks
- Nails audibly clicking on hard floors
- Dogs who don't walk enough on pavement to wear them down

* Some coats simply need more time — heavy double coats, dense undercoats, and long silky hair all take extra brushing, drying, and scissoring. These breeds, along with doodles and doodle mixes, are quoted individually based on size, coat condition, and the degree of matting. Call (714) 716-3015 for an exact quote.
Common Questions
What if you cut the quick?
We trim conservatively to avoid it, and we carry styptic to stop bleeding immediately if it happens. It's startling but not dangerous.
The nails are already very long — can they be fixed?
Yes, but gradually. The quick grows out with the nail, so it takes several trims a couple of weeks apart to bring them back safely.
