Cat Lion Cut
Body clipped short with mane, tail tip, and paws left — the standard fix for a matted cat.
About Cat Lion Cut
The lion cut is the practical answer to a long-haired cat whose coat has matted beyond brushing. The body is clipped short, and the head, neck ruff, tail tip, and lower legs stay full.
Cat skin is dramatically thinner than dog skin, so this is careful work with the right blade and a light touch. It resolves matting immediately, cuts down hairballs, and keeps a heavy-coated cat far more comfortable in summer.
Who it's for
- Matted long-haired cats
- Cats who've stopped grooming themselves
- Persistent hairball problems

* Some coats simply need more time — heavy double coats, dense undercoats, and long silky hair all take extra brushing, drying, and scissoring. These breeds, along with doodles and doodle mixes, are quoted individually based on size, coat condition, and the degree of matting. Call (714) 716-3015 for an exact quote.
Common Questions
Will the coat grow back normally?
Usually within a few months. Some cats regrow with a slightly different texture at first.
Isn't it cruel to shave a cat?
Leaving a cat in a tight mat is what's cruel — mats pull on the skin constantly. A clip is relief, not vanity.
