Brush Out
Working the coat down to the skin to lift dead hair and stop tangles becoming mats.
About Brush Out
A brush out is a full, methodical comb-through of the coat — line by line, right down to the skin. It removes shed undercoat and loose hair that surface brushing at home tends to skate straight over.
We work in sections with a slicker and a metal comb, checking behind the ears, in the armpits, and along the back legs where tangles form first. If we hit a spot that has already tightened into a mat, we'll show you and talk through whether it can be brushed out or needs de-matting.
Who it's for
- Double-coated breeds carrying dead undercoat
- Long silky coats that tangle between grooms
- Any dog whose home brushing only reaches the top layer

* Some coats simply need more time — heavy double coats, dense undercoats, and long silky hair all take extra brushing, drying, and scissoring. These breeds, along with doodles and doodle mixes, are quoted individually based on size, coat condition, and the degree of matting. Call (714) 716-3015 for an exact quote.
Common Questions
Is a brush out the same as de-shedding?
They overlap, but de-shedding is a heavier treatment aimed specifically at blowing out packed undercoat, usually paired with a bath and high-velocity dry.
My dog hates being brushed. What then?
We go slowly and in short passes, and we stop before it becomes a fight. Regular short sessions build far more tolerance than one long struggle.
