Skunk Odor Treatment
The emergency appointment — a de-skunking wash that actually works.
About Skunk Odor Treatment
Skunk spray is an oil, which is why plain shampoo just smears it around and tomato juice does almost nothing. It needs a formula that chemically breaks down the compounds causing the smell.
We work a de-skunking treatment through the whole coat, paying particular attention to the face and neck where dogs usually take the hit, leave it to react, and rinse. Depending on how direct the spray was it may take more than one pass.
Who it's for
- Direct skunk encounters
- Lingering odour that ordinary bathing hasn't shifted
- Any strong odour a normal wash has failed on

* Some coats simply need more time — heavy double coats, dense undercoats, and long silky hair all take extra brushing, drying, and scissoring. These breeds, along with doodles and doodle mixes, are quoted individually based on size, coat condition, and the degree of matting. Call (714) 716-3015 for an exact quote.
Common Questions
Will the smell be gone completely?
Mostly, in one session. A faint trace can reappear when the coat gets wet for a few weeks afterwards — that's normal and it fades.
What should I do before you arrive?
Keep them outside and don't wet the coat — water spreads the oil. Check the eyes for irritation; skunk spray stings.
