About Medicated Bath
Medicated shampoos treat specific problems: bacterial and yeast overgrowth, seborrhea, hot spots, and general inflamed skin. The active ingredient needs to sit on the skin to work, which is what separates this from a regular bath.
We lather thoroughly down to the skin and leave the product on for its full contact time — usually ten minutes or so — before rinsing completely. If your vet has prescribed a specific shampoo, send it with your dog and we'll use theirs.

* Some coats simply need more time — heavy double coats, dense undercoats, and long silky hair all take extra brushing, drying, and scissoring. Can you use the shampoo my vet prescribed?
Yes, and we'd prefer to. Leave it out for us with any instructions on frequency and contact time.
How often can a medicated bath be given?
Follow your vet's guidance — some protocols are twice weekly, others monthly. Over-bathing can dry the skin further.
