Hand Scissoring
Shaped entirely by hand for a soft, natural finish no clipper gives.
About Hand Scissoring
Clippers give a uniform length; scissors give shape. Hand scissoring is how you get a rounded doodle head, a properly blended leg, or a soft outline that doesn't look machined.
This is slow, skilled work — the coat is combed up and cut in small sections, then combed and checked again from every angle. Expect it to add real time to the appointment, and price accordingly.

* Some coats simply need more time — heavy double coats, dense undercoats, and long silky hair all take extra brushing, drying, and scissoring. These breeds, along with doodles and doodle mixes, are quoted individually based on size, coat condition, and the degree of matting. Call (714) 716-3015 for an exact quote.
Common Questions
Why does this cost more than a clipper cut?
Purely time. A hand-scissored finish can take twice as long as running clippers over the same dog.
Does the coat need to be a certain length?
Yes — there has to be enough coat to shape, and it needs to be mat-free. Very short or matted coats can't be scissored into a shape.
